I have a couple MIG welders but wanted to add a TIG welder for a few projects. I'll be welding up to a maximum of 1/2" steel. I don't weld much Al.In general, I like to buy more capacity than I need. Although it looks like the 255EXT would be perfect for my needs, is there any reason NOT to upgrade to the 325EXT (other than price of course)?
Reply:I got the 350 EXT and have never welded above about 260. No down sides besides cost and a little more size/weight. Upsides are the unit never works very hard internally, and I never get near the duty cycle, and I can go weld weld whatever I want if I want to, lots of head room.Everlast 350 EXT - Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52 - Rogue Fabrication M600 xHD tube benderMilwaukee 4208 Mag Drill - Shopmaster Eldorado Combo mill/lathe machine with DRO.
Reply:If you are in question, the main thing to keep in mind is that the 255EXT does have a little bit lower start amps for AC and DC. And I agree the 350EXT is a beast.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT |
