Hello everyone, just wondering if it is possible to adapt a Esab PT-38 Plasma Torch in a Esab Powercut 875. Originally this machine comes with the PT-32 Torch, but this torch just blow up 3 times (3 different torches) so i decide to buy a new Esab Powercut 1300 and the 875 has been stored for 5 years until now without any torch. So now i have 2 pt 38 torches stored (because i have bought this torches from some friends), and a Powercut 875 in good condition but no torch. Do you think is possible to do something with this torch? Pt32 and Pt38 are both blowback. i want to know your opinion.Thanks.
Reply:Sure it will work as long as you get everything hooked up to the right place. I would use a SL100 if it were me.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Dealer Consumables for the PT and IPT torch's
Reply:It will not work being the the PT-38 is a blow back torch, and the 875 is a high freq machine.. The Themal SL-60 would be a perfect match for that machine.. (Adapter available too) SL-100 has a stiffer/larger cable, and you will gain nothing using that one over the SL-60.. RPT style if you don't want or need the ATC style torch then you won't need the ATC adapter tooPT-32 is not a blow-back torch.. Look at the fixed electrode that does not move, and it shows you right there. The only esab of the earlier model years to use a blow back torch is this one below.. It was based on the 875 of all things...
