Greetings all,I am having some issues with a my Thermal Arc GSM 400, so I thought I hope my first time posting on the forum will solve my issues. I have used this unit with a Lincoln LN7 wire feeder and it has worked great in the past, however I was moving it into my new shop and broke the pin connection cable between the power source and the feeder. Long story short, I have been told that nobody ever made a cable to make this setup work, though I've read countless posts of people using this setup or even using Miller feeders with this machine. If anyone had insight who runs this setup up, or a part number or maybe a spare cable, I would greatly appreciate it as this has been a great machine for me.Thanks!
Reply:http://www.justarc.com/lincoln.htmIf you have a 14 pin, then a Miller plug will work.(as long as you have 120 volt on the pins) I am thinking your Lincoln feeder is a 6 pin.. Reply:Thermal Arc and Miller feeders interchanged at least the next generation MST's from Sanrex. There were adaptors made that went from 14 to 19 pin, 14 to 10 and back and forth and some conversion boxes to hook up 2 feeders to 1 power supply etc.. All creative stuff made in Troy Ohio. They didn't offer all of the conversions in the catalogs but they made what ever people wanted. Reply:The later 14 pin, and 19 pin machine can have two feeders hooked up without a box. Prolite machine types have the 14 pin/17 pins setups. Supports 17 Miller pulse units too..Really Dea at JustArc will have the info you need. I hooked up my Thermal-arc (mostly Hobart) feeder with My 14 pin Esab from his info.. Built the cable myself..Main thing is to look for 120 volts out of the Thermal to the Lincolns 120 volt. Reply:The switch in the back was for remote voltage control..Both feeders will work without switching positions. I kept the 19 pin Thermal feeder on remote rear setting, since the lincoln LN-72 does not have the right pot for it anyway.. I believe the 14 is is really for remote with ft control anyway..With the contactor in the on position you could have three feeders hooked up at once.. VS style like a LN-25 etc...
I have seen the remote Hobart boxes on Ebay before.. It was really before the MTS Arcmaster machines.. More for having two 19 pin machines hooked up at once. Maybe a 6-pin too. Never looked at one in person. Anyway, I never needed one... One thing I know we agree on, the Sanrex MST/LM stuff is as good as it gets/got..
