I am going to cut some angle iron ( mild steel bed frame) down with my chop saw to make a frame. I bought this 201xd new about 3 months ago and havent even unboxed it but have everything.Experienced 201xd users, can you please provide some favorite settings I can use to get started on i guess 1/8 mild steel.I have 100% AR .I have some mild steel and aluminum coupons i bought, and i can start on those , but i will be interested in working with mild steel at first. Thanks in advance.
Reply:On the steel you would use DC current, electrode negative for Tig. A good rule for setup is 1 amp per thousandth of thickness, to a point. If using a pedal set to about 140 amps and go from there. Number 6 or 7 cup at 15 cfh should get you close. 2 percent lanthanated tungsten in 3/32" size would be a good start.Miller xmt304, Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Esab 161lts miniarc.
