Using 45xp with track torch buggy

Here is my latest brain storm .I am wanting to purchase a track torch , remove the torch and mount the plasma cutter torch to it . I would like to keep it simple with 2 switches one for the plasma cutter and one for the buggy without the need for computer controls . My question is - Is there a machine torch available with a simple on/off switch to trigger it ? My last resort would be to mount a hand held torch and put a rubber band on trigger while it's cutting, but for obvious reasons i don't want to do that . While at the same time i dont want to haft to control it with a computer.
Reply:I did that decades ago when the shop where I worked bought their first plasma. I just found where the trigger wires connected to the machine, attached a 20' piece of 14/2 stranded wire to the terminals and put a small push on/push off switch at the end of it, worked great. As for the actual torch mount, I just split a piece of 1 1/2" or 1 1/4 pipe about 10" long and made a cradle for the torch out of that and attached it to the same place the actual acetylene torch fastened to the carriage,  couple of small hose clamps and ur good............Mike

I have a remote, and Machine torch that fits the (65) the 45, but really might want to hang onto it. MOSTLY for when a used 45 XP shows up in a few years..

The remote from Hypertherm is momentary,or locked on setting. Reply:You can simply buy the plug and some pins (that fit the cpc port on the back of the 45xp). I got one from digikey for about $12 if i remember correctly. A little searching and you should be able to find the part numbers. Then any simple mechanical contact switch will fire the torch. I use a machine torch and fire via a contact relay cor a cnc machine, but no difference as far as switch and conection... if you use a hand torch, you may have to research on how to bypass the lockout so the CPC connection fires with the switch with a hand torch.

Reply:If the track burner had a machine oxy-fuel torch on it...the holder for that torch will fit the standard Powermax45 machine torch. If using the machine torch on the Powermax 45 you simply can plug in the Hypertherm pendant, or wire your own on/off switch to pins 3 and 4 of the CPC connector.   If you are planning to adapt the Powermax45 hand torch to the track burner....pins 3 and 4 (the pendant as well) will not function. To fire a hand torch remotely you will need to hack into the torch trigger switch wiring.Jim Colt    Hypertherm
