has anyone heard of these they are three phase mig dc tig and stick older transformer i thinkhad a chance to buy one for $150i did not buy it as i was not sure if it could be converted to single phasebought the thermal arc dual digital wire feeder it came with to run on my miller cp300the hobart was a very nice welder and the three functions were rare for the vintagewas just wondering if anyone knew anything about thesethanksbrett
Reply:3phase usually 480 volt machine built by Hobart Bros in the time when everybody was trying to build a multiprocess machineNo, regardless of what the space cadets of the Church of Kemp Haas claim, it can't convert to single phase unless you want crap arc quality. The only good multiprocess machine of that era I ever ran was an Airco DipStick, and it suffered in the mechanics of the wire drive.Airco built from a sliding core transformer with a dam heavy core.  Multitap power units couldn't match the arc.
Reply:Good machines but always three phase and as Virgil stated "multiprocess". Very good in the time when both stick and wire were both used in the same factory.SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....
Reply:There was also the drawback side of multiprocess machines..Just like living room console HiFi/radio/TV when anything went out you were totally screwed.
Reply:Thanks at least I got the wire feederI did convert my cp300 runs my xra push pull al.Very well so farBrett
