Just picked one up, to mark 4 locations.Expensive tool for 4 little marks. But, couldn't risk misaligning my axle side lower control arm brackets. Now I need to find more uses for it.
Reply:Derp....curv-o-mark
Reply:Many specialty items can be costly especially when bought when you need it. I always monitor prices before buying when I can. I bought one from Amazon for $ 50.15 on Oct 27, 2015 , now it's $69.17. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o03_s00http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...t=curve+o+markhttp://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...t=curve+o+mark
Reply:Yeah, I've been thinking of how to make sure the brackets were identical, and yesterday I remembered having seen this thing on her.So I swung by my weld store and snagged it.

Reply:If the links in my post above, # 3 didn't work , here. You could do a search on Goggle for info too.

Reply:You could also just tack a piece of flat stock on and use a machinist level. I have gotten by for years without one, but I am envious of them. One of these days, when I get a job in the shop that it will make easier, I will buy one.

Reply:@ Fnord5 - that's a very practical tool.  As an alternative, really dig the FlangeWizard Centering Head, with the anodized finish and magnetic legs.  Perfect for accurately laying out surfaces/edges on bbq smoker subassemblies.  Met the owner at FABTECH.  A real nice guy.

Reply:Fnord5I've had a Curv-O-Mark for over 40 years.  They are fine for doing big pipe [Torch & Gap-Rod] but are too course for small diameters.I have had a Starrett Combination Square: for 42 years, 4 months, and 19 days.http://www.google.com/search?q=starr...HfLAApMQ_AUIBQA Starrett Combo will perform the same operation on small material, but with much greater accuracy. They cost three time as much - but have 1000's of applications, andwould provide daily utility for perpetuity. For those considering the cost benefit of a C-O-M for occasional use, consider applying its cost towards a Starrett Combo.Opus
Reply:If you welded them on 90* out sure, even .250" in a arc cycle of 30* isnt going to make a dam dang bit of difference. Rubber bushing flex and johnyjoints/ hiems will cycle with zero issue. Nothing wrong with doing it to the best of your ability, just no reason to spend money on something that line of sight Will get you. Reply:Curve-o-marks are the **** I was still using a combo square and torpedo level to get my centers before I found that beauty Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:When you are using a center finder, how do you find the perpendicular axis accurately?
Reply:If I understand your question correctly, set your mark with the punch, rotate the pipe 90 (or 270) degrees according to the digital scale, then set the punch on top at 0 degrees.Regards,RobGreat Basin WeldingInstagramBlue weldersRed weldersMy luscious Table

Reply:Ah, I was referring to using a center finder "crows foot" attachment on a combo square.
Reply:When I think "Curve-O-Mark", I think of this...

Mine lost a piece a long time ago, and I finally tossed it a few weeks back.
