Hi I'm going to be removing a floor on an old vespa and replacing with a new floor and rather than jumping to having to buy extra deep c clamps because of the reach which is about 8 " to the inside seam, what other options do I have to be able to press the new floor against the vespa frame lip for plug welding? I'm attached 3 pics , 1. I arrowed up for the frame I'm working on and how much I have to cut out and proximation of plug welds although probably not quite so many. 2. is the Vespa I'm working on with the new floor lyed overtop of the still in place floor to be removed .3. what the vespa will look like once I remove the floor to show the frame with the lip left in place to be welded to.Thanks for any help.

Reply:Tack a couple threaded studs to the floor pan and lay a piece of angle across the top of the rockers. Drill some oversized holes in the angle and draw it up with washers and nuts . Could it be held in place with a jack?Miller xmt304, Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Reply:MJD now that there is a good idea. I could rig up a floor jack underneath, but your idea is a good starting point.
Reply:I just came across another tool on the internet, Clecos, this also may be an option.
Reply:Just use sheet metal screws, then when you get enough plug welds in, remove the screws and weld the holes.

Reply:if your gonna be using screws, drill the top piece hole a little larger than the thread diameter and just use the bottom piece to drill and screw hold. that way any metal that starts to come up will fill the void where the larger hole is under screw head. the 2 pieces of metal will lay flat against each other.Last edited by duramax-rob; 11-05-2019 at 08:56 AM.lincoln 125spmonkey wards 250 ac/dcmiller 211 w/spool gunahp 200 sx tiglotos ltp5000dof course duramax diesel

Reply:I have a half dozen of these https://www.harborfreight.com/hand-t...amp-45919.html and a half dozen of the 8" ones. Work great for what you're doing. They don't put a lot of force on the metal, but enough to do the job.
Reply:Aftermarket remote kits should be fairly simple... have not put one in a fusion but I did pull all the tumblers out of a friend fusion a while back cause the lock was failing and sometimes would not work... so now any key works... well..... as long as you keep the chip part taped to the column
