So I am in the process of buying a new truck. My 2003 Silverado 1500 had seen better days at 220k miles. The local chevy dealer has few new trucks from 2016 and 2017 to chose from that'll fit my budget. One is a 2017 Silverado 3500HD LT 4X4 DRW Crew Cab gasser Vortec 6.0L and the other is a Silverado 2016 2500HD LT 4X4 Z71 with the same engine. I have neither the need for HD nor towing capacity, it just so happens that these are in line with my budget for a new truck. I will admit that the dually looks very cool and the 8' bed will come in handy for sure. I know the DRW is a bit cumbersome in parking garages and to drive around town, but I am leaning more towards it.What to look for in a vehicle that has been parked in a shaded lot for the past 2-3 years? The dealer said they'll change oil and filters and that there will be a warranty, just not the full one. I am sure I'll have to change tires soon, they look ok, but sitting for all these years = not good. Both trucks have around 15 miles on the clock.Thoughts are appreciated.

Reply:Have the trucks ever been titled? I would push for the full warranty. Unless you need it I would not get the daulie, tags might cost more due to the weight. Also other repair parts such as brakes, suspension and drive line are going to be more expensive, when needed.Mike
Reply:You gota be good at parking if u want the daulie or else your tire will be sticking over the lines. I’d say it’s a waste tho if your not even towing since it will just take up more power from the added rolling resistance and get worse mileage. The other truck is a better deal and you will save a lot of money
Reply:Yeah if there have never been sold they should be full manufacturer warranty Ana that is valid even carries over to non original owners from date of original sale. Reply:If you ain't hauling get a srw. Why not get a 1500? You said you don't need an HD. Just curious is all.Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Reply:Both are good looking truck.I would look at gas mileage and get the one with the best.I have found the 1 ton size is rougher ride. The 1/2 ton rides more like car. The bestb size I found was 3/4 ton good ride and can haul a lot.The down size to dually is tire suppliers can sell 2 more tires and use more gasoline.Dave

Reply:A dualie is wide , more for tires, and milage is a little worse. IF you don't need the heavier duty truck, skip it. I bought my first extended cab and the comfort is great. The seats have more adjustment than a conventional 2 door cab. Crew cab is big inside and lots of storage with rear seats raised. As for towing package , I would recommend it even if you don't tow. The larger radiator, oil and trans cooler are a plus when traveling and in summer hot weather. The Z71 package as extra goodies like positraction and some have a larger heavier rear end.

Reply:they might be left over truck but dealer had to "register" them to get the chevy sales bonuses and take them off the books.remainder of factory warranty would be in effect but i would negotiate an extended warranty also.

Reply:I would avoid the DRW unless the 2 extra tires to replace is of no concern to you. The original warranty should be valid for the duration of its time/mileage. I think the dealer is trying to pull a fast one, you should be able to purchase an extended warranty to kick in AFTER the factory warranty expires.IMPEACH BIDEN!NRA LIFE MEMBERUNITWELD 175 AMP 3 IN1 DCMIDSTATES 300 AMP AC MACHINEGOD HELP AMERICA!Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didnt pass it to our children in the bloodstream".RONALD REAGAN
