I know I can buy a momentary switch for around $100 but I can't justify spending that much money on one qhen I already have the major components IE sheilded cable, 6 pin connector and goot momentary button.  Could someone please tell me or provide me with the diagrams for what to use to build a custom momentary button setup for my welder? I've been looming and the only thing I've been able to find online is how to trouble shoot the foot control

Reply:There is a connection diagram inside the lincoln foot control. If you use a shielded cable only connect the shield at the plug end. So any noise the shield picks up is drained to the case ground and can't get onto the wiring.
Reply:Switch goes on pins D & E.
Reply:So if I'm reading that schematic correctly I should need a 10k resister between pins A & B then the Momentary button between pins D & E if I'm correct
Reply:I doubt that. Your wiring just a contactor control. Connect it to D & E and see what happens. When you short those together gas is coming on and arc initiates and amps are on the encoder dial.

Reply:depends on what you are trying to do. A simple arc start switch you will not need a resister. As the welder auto detects the resister and will now look for a signal voltage. So a simple Arc start switch just closes D and E. A,B, C, are left open. This way current is controlled by the panel knob. A full remote control will have a switch at D & E and a potentiometer across A,B,C.
Reply:Thanks to everyone one for the info, the not needing any resistor and only needing to install the momentary switch between terminals D&E was spot on.  I rigged up a temporary momentary setup and it worked flawlessly all evening welding on my truck bumper.  Tomorrow I'm going to build a quality arc start setup.
Reply:Goodmorning everyoneI also have this problem, thanks anyway for the explanations.I would like to ask how do I find D and E?pin side or solder side?thanks for your help meMassimo
