Does the basic unit come with the capability to connect to a CNC system / table? If not, can this capability be added to it?I understand they take different guns and there is a control cable. I cannot tell if the cable port is on the basic unit or not.If it isn't I would have to assume there are different part numbers for each unit. Thanks,John
Reply:I'm sure Jim will be around with a comprehensive reply but until then...The base unit does come with the capability to connect but does not include the CPC port part. Yes, they're different part numbers for with or without the CPC port. CPC port can be added after the fact by purchasing the part and installing yourself.See here - http://www.weldersupply.com/P/1638/H...PowermaxXPHand
Reply:If you purchase a Powermax45 XP in a configuration with a machine torch it will have the CPC port. If you purchase a Powermax45 XP with a hand torch, it will not have the CPC port.....as this port has no use for hand cutting and the lower price is important to many. You can add the CPC port to any unit (Powermax45, 65, 85) in the field using upgrade kit number 228697, which comes with instructions. The CPC port is necessary for use with a machine torch. You can also add the optional RS485 serial interface kit (part number 228539) if your CNC machine has serial interface capability. There are dozens of machine configuration part numbers depending on lead lengths, torch styles, input voltages, etc. Most dealers can help with choosing the correct system for your needs, there is a system confihurator page on the www.hypertherm.com website, you can contact Hypertherm tech service or customer service for help with numbers.....or you can contact me ([email protected]) Note that I should be the last choice as I don't deal with part numbers and system configurations on a daily basis.....I simply go to the Hypertherm website and find the numbers there!   Jim Colt    HyperthermEdit:  Note that you can also order Hypertherm systems "a la carte"....each individual item separate. You need 1. A power supply (voltage input, optional CPC and/or Serial ports), 2. Work Lead (some have clamps, some just have a bolt lug, different lengths available), 3. Torch and Leads (Hand torch, Machine torch, Gouging torch, different lead lengths), 4. Consumables parts kits.

Reply:Thank you that answers my question. Plus I just got off the phone with one of your techs and my local Airgas rep who said the same thing. John
Reply:Old thread but in case anyone comes along and ASSuMEs this is correct:Hypertherm tells me the part # above is incorrect for the 45XP.... after I used this thread to figure out what I needed... no big deal, but hopefully this helps the next sucker...correct part # is:428654 for the serial connection RS485 to the 45XP according to tech-dude at Hypertherm. And the install manual for this kit is here:https://www.hypertherm.com/en-US/search/?search=809930Last edited by DipSchitt; 08-15-2018 at 06:15 PM.
