Fronius welders?

Don't hear much on them.. Anyone here run one? I'm not in the market now but I did consider them before I bought my Lincoln tig. They seem like a very advanced well made machine but lack of support here concerned me.Just curious as to how they are. Says their mig can do aluminum without a push pull or spoolgun? And htp can too but that's with an extremely short whip.

Reply:They're quite common here in Australia and I've spent a fair bit of time with the Transteel 3200 and 5000 (with the standalone wirefeeder), TPS 2700 (built in wirefeeder), transpocket 1500 (under 10 pound TIG/stick).Simply put they're the best machines I've ever used, with the genuine Fronius gun with the teflon liner in it you can drive .045 aluminium wire through a 12 foot gun pretty easily and a 9 foot with it tied in a knot, and with the push/pull gun you can drive it through as long as you want.Reliability wise I've never witnessed one have a failure, the TPS 2700's are used alot around here in power stations welding boiler membrane, dirty dusty nasty conditions, they pulse programs for mild steel and aluminium solid wire are great, welding pipe vertical up in position with .035 at 26 volts and 480 IPM in pulse spray transfer is something to see, doesn't look like it should work but it does.Last edited by ttoks; 07-04-2021 at 02:33 PM.
Reply:I think the biggest issue you would have here (USA) may be lack of support and availability. A lot of the Fronius machines use maker specific guns, torches, etc. which may be hard to obtain.

Reply:Yeah from looking at them all the guns foot pedals etc are quite pricey! My take is they really don't need our business that bad or they just focus on making a very high quality machine. I had looked into the magicwave 230i tig but was another 1200 than my Lincoln aspect. I guess more in line with miller pricing here but not the miller or Lincoln service.

Reply:At work we use Fronius welders almost exclusively. They run super smooth, and their interface is super easy to use. As for support the Fronius rep is there when he says he will be... unlike the rep from Lincoln.
Reply:I have been looking at the MagicWave 230 and while it does seem to be more expensive then some it certainly isn't the most expensive and if it can do what the specs say, and what some of the youtube videos show it should be good. The specs for what it can do on 110volt are impressive. With a little shopping and right now there are some specials that help, they have a special with the wireless pedal. CK has an adapter to use a standard American torch with it for those, like me who are not comfortable with the European torches.Mike
