I have a rebuilt F162 in my 1960 sa 200. The motor was bored over .020 with a full rebuild kit I have ran the motor for maybe 45 minutes so far and when I pull the oil fill cap it seems like I have a decent amount of blow by. Its nothing crazy I can easily put my hand over top of the fill tube without my hand getting blown off, but this is my first rebuild and I wanted to see if it was normal for a rebuilt motor. Im guessing the rings just arent fully seated yet but was looking for confirmation or something to look into if there might be a problem. Machine fires right up, about 25psi oil pressure on low idle and maybe 32psi on high. Oil still looks and smells clean and the exhaust isnt smoking when the machine is running. I might cleaning the crank case vent tube maybe its full of junk and not allowing the pressure to blow off? I cant remember how well I cleaned it seeing as Ive been working on rebuilding this machine for several years. Look forward to any advice thanks.
Reply:She just needs some honest hard work to seat the rings.
Reply:I just rebuilt a 67 ford 289, no blow by to speak of. Put it to work on a load bank, or burn some big rods and see what happens. |
