It does say "how to" as one of the topics.... so... here I am.I actually thought there was a dedicated sheet metal forum, somewhere on this site. (maybe confused it with another site?)Anyway....Came across this how-to shop tip and thought I'd share it with those "back-yard home metal fab" DIY'ers.For those unfamiliar with sheet metal fab.It involves a bead-rolling machine, which is typically used for making shallow metal-strengthening beads, or shallow "ribs". Think of the ribs in the floorin the back of pickup-truck bed, only... smaller and you can have a better guess of what this type of machine can do. In this specific, clip, it's not so much how to use the machine or to show what the machine can do, but a tip to overcome a problem, experienced bythose who may have one, but haven't overcome the warpage that occurs when making beads. The individual in the clip offers an interesting solutionand a "make-do" approach with some leather/gasket punches, that can be found at a leathercraft store or Harbor Freight. The tool he modifies, is quite common. Anyway... don't know if it's useful to anyone here, or not.
Reply:Here is a tool that is used in an auto-index station on machines like an Amada CNC turret punch press (second clip).It creates beads, like the bead roller, above, but much faster, more accurately, with greater repeatability.
