My switch was burn on one side. add first I hardwired the burn side to test the welder out. But I wanted to remove the switch and just add Quick disconnect sockets to it. But now I'm confused. I see 5 connection . I know which on are for AC but how do you connect for DC.
Reply:You can download the manual from Lincoln Electric. But...I don't think you will find anything with a picture of the polarity switch. You should have taken a picture of the switch before you started disconnecting stuff; I would have also label each wire. You should be able to figure this out if you know how to read schematics; if you don't, then you need to learn. Replacement switches are not cheep; and if connected wrong; the smoke will spill out.
Reply:is your welder have a round top or a flat top. I found a drawing for the flat top that might help. If your welder is real old the sequence DC+ DC- AC might be in a different order.I will try to post it tonight. Have to copy it out of a service manual as a single page and then it can be posted here. List price on that switch is around $200.You might be able to bypass the switch and have 4 terminals on the welder front. 2 AC and 2 DC. Need the code number for more help. If you can't read the diagram pasted to the cover, call Lincoln with your code number and the will fax or e-mail you a clean copy.

Reply:If you cannot find the schematic, you can use a meter to find the output information too. Pictures can also be used to help.Snap some photos of the wiring involving the switch and any other circuits connected to the switch. If you wish to install 4 quick connect cam terminals, we can identify the wires without much doubt. Replacement of the switch is also possible.Stay safe and have fun.Kolas
