Maybe the wrong thread. Anyone know what the bolt pattern is for the F227 continental? I need to repower my bobcat and just cannot see myself putting another one in with those motors being harder to get parts for and the blocks being to thin they cannot be rebuilt. Mine we check the gas and fill it up with oil and water. Is there a charts showing what industrial motors have what bolt patterns.Thanks
Reply:I would imagine there are similar engines,, but, manufacturers made LOTS of $$,$$$ by making their machine unique,,forcing the user to come back to the manufacturer for replacements,,My friend bought a 4 wheel drive Caterpillar backhoe,,he had to go to the dealer as that was the ONLY place to get a replacement hydraulic hose,, WOW!!,,
Reply:From what I understand the older industrial engines would cross on a regular basis, as companies had the customer in mind more so. I'm sure it will cross with some others, but I don't know what bolt pattern it has

Reply:thats really funny you found/posted that. I had a clark y80 c500 in the 90's, w/ a continental. it was a great lift, except the inboard puck brakes were bad design. i had a rotator/turner on front carriage to pick up dumpsters for loading my truck. i still have the shop manual on it. so i spent about 4 minutes today looking at it for this guy, thinking there would be another eng. it came w/, but it only showed the continental. anyway, my sam 400's have perkins 4.236's
Reply:Most later model sixes have a whole lot different (higher) torque curve than the continental.This means it would not creep nearly as well and would be more difficult to use.You would be much better off having the conti rebuilt.
Reply:Lincoln used the F226/227 in the original SAE300 I believe but could have been the SAE400. They're just a 6 cylinder version of the SA200 engines so other than being thirsty are good engines. I think Bill's Welder Repair has the Continental flat head rebuild manual you can download on their website.
