This video popped up on one of my Facebook groups for CNC plasma cutting. It is for an inexpensive bevel tool. I found a similar tool on Amazon for an even cheaper price at only $62 so just  ordered one. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FX8741G...HNDBTX0J85QS9SI have not received the tool yet, so can't vouch for it. I have spent more money on dumber stuff so don't feel bad about giving it a shot.Sent from my SM-G930V using TapatalkMillermatic 252 MIGMiller Dynasty 200DX TIGMiller Spectrum 625 PlasmaAltas 12x36 Metal LatheBridgeport Milling Machinewww.psacustomcreations.com

Reply:I LIKE THAT TOOL.  It beats doing a setup to bevel anything on the mill.  It would cut considerable time off of anything that doesn't have to be absolutely centered, and at a precision depth.

Reply:It would be great if they made one like that but was electric, like an angle grinder....(I know, they call them a grinding disk...).  An electric bevel tool would at least make for a more uniform angle.

Reply:Thanks for the video.  I could put that to work.  Check the link provided.  There are larger and electric ones on that page.

Reply:Vaughn, Yeah! That Metabo beveling/chamfer tool (the small one) is what I had in mind.  Thanks for posting the video.OUCH!!  I just checked the price of one of them.  5/8" capacity at 45* was over $2700 at MSC.....too rich for my blood!Last edited by shortfuse; 04-29-2021 at 09:23 PM.

Reply:I work mainly in aluminum so I've been using wood cutting carbide bits in a router since the '70's to get bevels like those shown in the pneumatic driven steel cutter. But the idea is the same, the functionality is the same.  6061 (Aaron the Tig god) uses one (for aluminum) mounted in his drill press table to bevel parts by moving the part not the router.Another post here shows a router using a bulb bit to create a U shaped butt joint prep for aluminum TIG in a pipe (vessel) that had to hold 800PSI.  Of course its easier in aluminum since its so soft by comparison to steel.  Thanks for posting video and showing this tool.Cheers,Kevin MorinKenai, AK
Reply:I paid a bit more for a quality tool. It functions well..Amazon price was super cheap, and a much better value. (IMO)Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i
Reply:I received my small beveler in the mail today. It is indeed small. I will try it out later this weekend and report how it performs.

Reply:This little beveler works pretty well. The material making up the body feels much more robust than the typical Harbor Freight air tools. It is very compact and light. Here are some bevels on the outside of some 3/8" plate as well as inside some curves from tabs I cut in the plate. I can see that being handy for when you might want to make a bevel like that and a grinder will not fit.

Reply:Very nice, Pat.  I especially like where you let that bevel fade out on the inside curve.  Very elegant. How do the cutting edges look now that they're broken in?  Any chips or other degradation?  Are they a standard carbide insert you can buy anywhere?
Reply:Thanks. The carbide inserts look good so far. They are standard inserts and available on Amazon Sent from my SM-G930V using TapatalkMillermatic 252 MIGMiller Dynasty 200DX TIGMiller Spectrum 625 PlasmaAltas 12x36 Metal LatheBridgeport Milling Machinewww.psacustomcreations.com
Reply:And of course they are 6 sided (each triangle is flipped once you go around) so, should last a good bit before you have to even think about buying more....

Reply:I don't think you're looking at it right

You dull an edge, take the screw out of the center, rotate the triangle to a new edge (so 3 cutting edges) THEN,,, you flip the triangle Over and have another 3!

Reply:German-made BDS heavy duty plate chamfering machine I bought a few weeks ago (not inexpensive). Takes separate carbide inserts (shown in package.

Reply:That BDS is ten times the price and I am sure it is worth it. I dont mind spending good money on tools I know I will use. I bought the Ellis 1800 for that reason. If it turns out I use the beveler more than I thought, I may step up to something more respectable Sent from my SM-G930V using TapatalkMillermatic 252 MIGMiller Dynasty 200DX TIGMiller Spectrum 625 PlasmaAltas 12x36 Metal LatheBridgeport Milling Machinewww.psacustomcreations.com
Reply:pat, does this tool bevel edges that have been plasma cut of course after the dross has been removed. Not sure if you example is of plasma cut plates. Reply:I machined edge will come out much nicer then a plasma cut one. The bevel is only as smooth as the materiel it rides against. Takes a plasma cut hole, and one made with a annular cutter .
