Does any one here use this equipment as i was thinking of purchasing one of there machines .Lincoln and Miller machines here in the uk are very expensive and to my surprise are made in Italy and not the USA as i thought.
Reply:If you are in the UK you might want to check out other European brands like: Fronius, Kemppi, Selco, SAF, Oelikon, Fro, Cebora, Migatronic, ...I'm in Belgium myself and Lincoln/Miller prices are indeed pretty high around here. Still looking for a decently priced welder myself actualy... I don't think you can find anything around here at USA-like prices though...
Reply:try ebay..............sometimes theyll even do free shipping. but only buy a machine that you can get serviced and parts too, good luck
Reply:Fronius are superb machines with a price to match , but as they say you get what you pay for .Was offered a new Oelikon T1700 AC/DC Inverter for £1000(1500 euros) which looks like a good deal .Dax how do uk prices compair to Belgium prices?.
Reply:Saltire, I'm guessing that Belgian prices are about the same or a bit highers as we do have higher taxes.. (21% instead of 17%?).I haven't looked at Fronius' prices yet though... but there machines seem excelent
Reply:After phoning one dealer he recons most inverters are only good for 3-5 years before they will need repaired and repairs are expensive and this is with moderate use .Fair play to the bloke he could have sold me various types of inverters from Lincoln to Esab and a few other makes but he reccomended buying a machine which i was offered at another dealers as it would be far more reliable . A (used with 18 month full warranty ) Butters 200amp ac/dc (£1000 uk) with a transformer inside but most likley three times the weight of the inverters i was looking at .Decisions decisions Last edited by saltire; 01-30-2004 at 12:50 PM. |
