Extension cord

Hello all,I need to buy a 50 foot extension cord for my Hobart Stickmate. Would a 8/3 cord be enough or do I need to go to 6/3? On ebay they sell a 50 foot 8/3 but it says it's for 35 amps and the stickmate is 50 amps.Thanks,axehind
Reply:The number 8 is good for the stickmate, in fact it will run on number 10, but the 8 is certainly better. Yes, number 8 is rated for 35A,,, continious, cords for welders are allowed to be derated as per duty cycle of te machine. I run 8 on all of mine.www.urkafarms.com
