Gooday, what is the correct gas to use when tig welding of S/S (316) sheet,1.6mm? Also can this same gas also be used on the pulse mig (welding the same material). We've had some debate about this at work so some outside expertise would be appreciated, cheers..
Reply:You'll want to use Argon, not any mixed stuff for TIG, as for the mig is it solid wire or flux core. That will determine what type of mixed gas to use. Hope this helps.Brett B & B Fabrication and Welding Inc.Spalding, MI.
Reply:cheers Brett. I figured pure argon for the tig. Solid wire for the pulse mig, with argonsheild 80 or 81 thats the argon coloured bottle with brown top. Think it maybe too hot for it tho....Ivan
