I've been getting a lot of mower decks to weld that are rusted through and some have cracked. What mig welder would be enough? I have O/A and a AC/DC 250 Lincoln and weld them with stick but it takes awhile with the really thin stuff.Any stand out machines? Thanks,DavidLast edited by stronics; 06-28-2005 at 09:14 PM.
Reply:how thick are these decks. I would think any machine from lincon or millers 135 series up would do it. Ive welded with a 135 machine in the past and it can do 1/4". Not real well, but it can it. a 175 or 210 would be a better machine but more money. Good luckCHRIS
Reply:Tx nailed it, any of the 135 class. You can keep it in the 120v models if you stay in that range. Start into the 175 to 180 up and it'll be 230 volt feed. Those are all good to but you already have a stick so no reason to start climbing in range a lot. Stay with the brand names, lincoln, miller, hobart, not necessarily in that order. Be sure and set up for gas and solid wire for that thin material. Good luck with the rust. |
