I'm using a weld-pak 100 with a b-1.5 setting for 18 gauge wire and in mid weld all of a sudden the machine will bog down or the flux-cored will just stick to the metal. I'm working on sheet metal for my f-150 supercrew. Also How much clean metal does the clamp need to be attached to. I'm using an 12 AWG extenstion cord and some times this machine just bogs down.  Any adivce as to what could be causing this sticking would be great...
Reply:how long is your 12 gauge cord?
Reply:Hey you got some sleep. Alright, My extension is 25 ft. Also I have decied to convert my Weld-pak 100 to use the solid .025 using the gas mixture. I'm told  you get much nicer welds and is muche easier to use when doing butt joint welds.
Reply:yeah I would think your 25 ft is alright.  Oh the solid will weld so much nicer for you.  As you have been obviously told the gas is necessary and if you dont have it youll get the air bubbles.  But youll know it when you see it.  Good luck, and stay away from the wind.CHRIS
