What would be the best grit and tool used to grind down my new welds on my vehicle project?
Reply:angle grinder with grinding wheel for flat and outide corners, dremel or die grinder for inside cornersStangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
Reply:Of course you got the 4 1/2 inch grinder concept down already so,,, if you get to a good big box store check out their grinding display. You'll notice that the wheels for a typical grinder come in about three thicknesses. The thicker (about 1/4") is the coarser and the thinnest is finest grit. I'd think you'd want to stick with the finer grits. Then when you down close to where you could damage areas to be painted move to what we call 'flap discs'. They look like a bunch of sandpaper wedges glued flat ways to make a grinding wheel. The come in actual grits. Anywhere from around 24 or 30 up to 120 or so. Depending on the RPM and power of your grinder even 60 or 80 grit can be pretty aggressive if painting is involved.Last edited by Sandy; 07-15-2005 at 09:36 PM.
