I recently acquired a dayton 295 amp welder. the plug was missing from the powercord. The powercord has three wires, a black a white and a green.Since there is no red wire, does the white wire carry a load? My experience is that the neutral cannot be a designated load wire, but I am not familiar with dayton welders. Can someone suggest the correct wiring for the unit?
Reply:In my experience any time you run into that combination the white and black are your hot wires and the green is the neutral.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Thanks for your help, I'm thinking the same way so I'll give it a try today. The unit belonged to my neighbors dad and was used very little. the dad passed away a few years ago and the kids sold the house. The unit was disconnected from the garage and it sat for several years collecting dust. Is their anything that I should do before attempting to weld with it because its been sitting so long? thx for your imput. Fred
Reply:It might not hurt to take the case off of it and blow it out with compressed air.  Sometimes critters like to build webs etc.., and dust collects in there, so it would never hurt.  ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
