i have the lincoln weld pak 100 and i am wondering what size generator i would need to use with it . i have a 1000 watt generator that pumps out a max of 5 or6 amps. would that work?
Reply:Is it one of the little honda gens? I dont think that will pull it. I have one that will just bearly run a pitching machine. I have run a millermatic 130 off a 3500 watt generac generator without much problem. I would guess 3000 watts would be fine also. You can probably get the welder to turn on fine and idle on 1000 watts, but my guess is that when you put a load on it you will trip the overload repeatedly. If I remember right, a 130 amp wire feeder will draw something like 20 amps or more under a load.Note, If your welder has a circuit board, brownouts are bad news.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'. |
