Have a small welder currently set up for .030 wire with gas. I would like to weld a small project with flux cored wire. I know about changing the electrical terminals on the side. I will be using .030 flux core. Is the diameter of the flux core the same as plain wire? Can I still run it on the .030 drive roller and use the .030 tip or do I need to change them to a larger size. Thanks in advance, JRF
Reply:You've got it figured out already. Shut off the gas, reverse the polarity. Roller groove and tips are the same. Maybe just a little less tension if, and only if, you were used to cranking it down hard on the solid. You can egg shape the flux core running too tight. There 's a little difference in characteristics as always. |
