problems with college project

hi guys ,  i am currently attending my local college (in the u.k) as a trainee welder and i have been set an investigation to find out certain materials (low, high, medium carbon steel, alluminum, brass, copper, stainless steel, cast iron, lead, bronze) and i have to name five forms of supply + five applications or uses in this form of supply + type of corrosive treatment for each of them  + the reason for each treatment. I'm finding this very difficult and i would appreciate any help what so ever with this. E.g - advice, decent web sites, books videos, pictures, or any other type of resource.
