Yes, I am looking for suggestions on a good welding helmet,I don't want a auto change helmet though.Right now we have a commercial helmet that clips on to a hard hat and the welding helmet itself is close to a 1/8-1/4in thick plastic and it also has a big viewing window which i like.I don't have a problem with the hard hat in the summer but right now in the winter the hard hat won't fit over my beanie or hood.So i am looking for a nice helmet w/o auto change, and one with a big viewing window,i would rather it be one for arc welding that comes with a 13 lens since i use that number for all kinds of welding....Thanks Jeff
Reply:you have to go to the welding supply store and try a few on.Personally, I always liked jacksons- nice an light, with a big window. But I had a guy working for me who hated em- he only would wear those Huntsman fiber/cardboard ones. Some guys will only wear auto changes, other guys hate em.A decent welding supply store ought to have a selection you can try, to find one you like.
Reply:Rigth their is one of my problems i need to drive 2 hours south of me to get to a place that selld more then ones you hold in your hand.My dad uses a Huntsman at work mostly because he is a mechanical contractor for McCains fords so they need to get into tight spaces and places where they want i lite helmet.I would like something that will take some abuse,i like the big window helmets, but i dont realy like the auto ones cause i had a few that didn't darken dark anough for my eyes and the next morning i woke up with a slight case of arc eye.I cant use and lens below a numer 12 so i am stuck with 12# and 13#(not sure if they go higher)but i i go below a 12# even with mig my eyes hurt on me when i am done,i also where a dark set of sun glasses under my helmet to darker stuff up a bit to....Jeff
