I have question about getting insurance on a truck and welding machine, I heard some people say they are insured up to a million, I'm just wondering if anyone had trouble getting the insurance and about how high is it?
Reply:I carry three hundred thousand liability insurance on the truck. But even if I had it as a passenger vehicle I'd carry that. The general liability package is to cover you if you cause damage to others while doing your business. Let's say a kid drowns in a pool because you messed up on the self closing mechanism on the gate.I carry a million with a total of two million general liability. Mine is higher because I drill holes deeper than eighteen inches and I weld. I pay a little over two thousand a year for that. My general liability policy runs me more than full coverage on a 2003 C 5500 truck, a lot more. And I've never had a claim on the general liability.A lot of general contractors won't hire you without a general liability policy.I look at all liability insurances as my responsibility to my customers and the public at large. If I weld up a trailer tongue and it breaks loose and I'm at fault then the folks and property that's damaged due to my mistake have at least a shot of getting some compensation.life is good
Reply:It is 750 /yr 1/2million general liability for me it only covers me on site, no coverage after I leave the site. I mostly do ornamental railing.I have a maintenance contract with a local institution. For a couple of years I have been building new rails all over to bring them up to codes. Last week I notice a car had knocked a rail down. I was thinking what if the car had just cracked the railing and later somebody leaned on it and fell. Scarry thought. Guess I need to consider more coverage. |
