Sorry for being a pain in the arse with the posts, but i guess thats what a forum is for.Ok, what i was just wanting to clarify, is the flux on a stick/electrode for stick welding.Does the flux on the stick provide the gas that stops oxidation of the molten puddle, a bit like the gas that comes out of the GMAW, instead of using gas out of a bottle, it comes off the stick? is that correct? And does it also provide the slag which protects the weld also? And i was just wondering what the flux is actually made of, cause i have been doing a ****load of research on Oxyacetylene and what its made of (CaC2 + 2H20 > Ca(OH)2 + C2H2 and that it burns a NEUTRAL flame at 5600 - 6300 deg Far. (3093 - 3482 Cel.)Also, can someone please check this for me, i have been doing a lot of notes in a booklet that i have to provide to my trainer every 2 weeks, and i just want to see if this table is correct.Metal Melting PointsMetalMelt Point(F)Melt Point(C)Aluminuim1217658Brass1652-1724900-940Bronze1566-1832852-1000Chromium30341667Copper19811082Gold19461063Iron27861530Lead621327Mild Steel2462-27861350-1530Titanium32631795Tungsten54323000Zinc786418I have to show my trainer soem notes every 2 or so weeks when he comes out, so i just want to make sure everything is right, and make a good 1st impression on my new trainer, so please feel free to constructivly criticise my work.
