Lincoln TIG 300, Miller Dial-Arc HF-P or Mid-Satest TIG

I can pick any one of these three up locally for about 1k.I'm looking to get a TIG that will be able to do aluminum. 1/4 max.And also plenty of stainless steel.Would these fit the bill?Also...since I'm really a newbie at welding, what features would I look for in order to tell what is sufficient for my needs?I recently used a friend's Thermal Arc 185 and thought it was just about perfect...only I don't think I want to spend that much on a new unit if I can pick up an older unit that does just as much or more.LINCOLN TIG 300 WITH CRATER FILL OPTIONMILLER DIAL-ARC HF-PMID STATES WELDER TIG INERT GAS Thanks for any replies and info. Reply:Just to give you an idea of how much of a newbie I am...I don't know what single phase, multi-phase is.All I know is that I put in a 50 amp breaker to run the Thermal Arc and now I think I am in love with bright lights and helmets.I currently have a lincoln wire-feed mig that I absolutely hate. I don't think it's worth me getting the gas for it because I'd never be satisfied with the messy results compared to the TIG.

Reply:Yeah, I am using a flux core. It really is messy and I realize that using gas will clear most of that up.I really would like to be able to just TIG everything though and sell the MIG.
