We are currently using a Miller 456P to do some mig welding and would like to know if there is a way to convert this machine to stick weld.
Reply:This is the Invision, right? You probably cannot. But Miller would be the guys to ask, they can tell you right over the phone, 1-800-4-A-MILLER.Sometimes these big MIGs can run a decent Constant Current power supply that might be able to Stick weld, but as a general rule this one is still a Constant Voltage power source, not Constant Current. That's the biggest difference between the wire-feeder power sources and the SMAW/GTAW power sources.I do note that said machine IS rated for Carbon Arc Gouging, which is commonly done with CC and CV machines. |
