Welding Schools - Where?

I live in Western Washington and I'm looking for a place to attend a few evening welding classes. I used to stick weld years ago, but am looking at getting a MIG and would like to take just a few classes. When I look at our local community colleges and Voc. Schools, they have programs, but they are all 18 months long and are mostly full time daytime courses. Does anyone still offer those evening type courses, for instance 2 nights a week from 7-9pm anywhere? Any idea where to find a class like this... I just want to get introduced to the basics and then practice at home, I'm looking to get some sort of welding PhD or anything!All suggestions appreciated...........

Reply:Hey,Check back with those schools but look in a NON-CREDIT COURSE CATALOGThe local Comm College here has a welding course but it's only a NON-CREDIT course. I took the first one and it was 10 evening classes 2 times a week. It may be they offer it and you are looking in the wrong catalog.The duration you indicated tells me it may well be a credit course.
Reply:A buddy of mine emailed me this:I checked out quite a few different places to take welding classes. SSCC was 1 of the best, but their slow at teaching you something you'll really need. Give Gary Mc Kay a call at 206-938-4712 and ask about his complete welding course. You'll start with O/A and finish with plasma cutting. It's a little cheaper and you get more 1 on 1 training, plus you'll learn everything. Gary will help you work on what ever you want to learn the most.  Plus the class times are flexable. When ever Gary has time, you can come in a practice.I still havent had the time, so I mostly do practice on my own.  I'd be happy to show you some things also.  Scott
