I cant find out this info and I need to know so I can get my ducks in a row here. Reply:Hi Fireblade, Here is a bit of what I have encountered. Most oil companies require that any Diesel engines be equipped with positive air shutoffs. Some oil companies require that they be electronic devices as opposed to manual. Many contracting companies require that the rig welders they hire have a minimum of $2,000,000 worth of commercial general liability insurance. There is an insurance broker in Calgary, H. E. Hunt, that specializes in insuring welders and their pricing seems to be the best. One also needs to get an automobile policy for their rig. Another good idea is to insure the tools, etc. Flashback arrestors are required and I have been checked for them before. I may be able to help with other questions if you wish. By the way I live in Grande Prairie and have been welding in and around here for twenty years.
