hi all, well, like some of you, igot most of my welding experience from trial and error at work, at first it was mostly error, lol!!!!I have been doing some welding for the past 4 years, reparing old farm equip, brushhogs, disks, buckets, and frontend loaders, corral panelsand so oni do have a question for the forum, i use a miller mig, on welding our galvanized panels, some of the metal welds good and some don`t.My question is this what kind of wire is the best to use for welding galvanized tubing?Any thoughts will be appreciated
Reply:hint..dont weld over galvy..it'll kill you if your not careful... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Have to grind off the galv in the areas to be welded, and work outdoors or with good ventilation. Mig doesn't like having the shielding gas disturbed, but the fumes from burning galv will make you sick. Invest in an angle grinder, harbor freight or home depot, and use it to grind away the galv. You'll probably find it handy to have around once you've bought one, great for cutting stuff up with a cutting blade attached. If you need to reapply the galv when you are done there are cold galv sprays which work fairly well. Good luck!If you don't have the time to do it right, then you definitely don't have the time to do it over. |
