I just got a new CO2 tank that has never been filled. I know the label says not to remove it, but is it ok to remove it so I can paint the tank? Attached Images
Reply:Odd that you would have an unpainted tank. Is it stainless? You could mask off the label if you are determined to paint it. Oops! I see it is aluminum. I would avoid painting because you would have to acid prep the surface and you are dealing with a high pressure cylinder.
Reply:its aluminum
Reply:That label looks like a little more than your typical mattress label. About the 6th bullet down says that tanks that have been refinished need re-certified. Does painting equal re-finished. I don't know. .
Reply:Thats what I was wondering. I'll ask the guy at Airgas i guess.

Reply:It has a nice finish on it already - I just wanted to paint it a different color - I've never seen this sticker on any other tanks though Attached ImagesLast edited by vaden; 01-26-2007 at 01:48 AM.
Reply:The tank is too pretty to paint. Catalina Cylinder powder coats their tanks, check with them. The telephone number and web address are on the tank.
Reply:Looks like a scuba tank. And I agree, just leave it raw, Its gonna get banged, nicked, scratched, and whatever else, and if you do do something, powdercoat may be the way to go, but... Reply:there is a chance that if you do paint it nobody will fill it. paint will conceal cracks and other deformities, i know its a new tank and all, but you know how people are about liability... |
