Have looked at a few posts on the forum and have seen a few that I like, but I need more ideas for a smaller (3-4'x4-5') welding fabrication table. So, what do you guys have for us to lust over?ThermalArc 185MillerMatic 180 w/ AutosetVictor Cutskill Oxy/AcetyleneThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38and spite!
Reply:It's not so much a "fabrication" table, but with all the holes drilled through through top, I have plenty of clamping options. Attached ImagesThere are no small projects

Reply:How about a 2'X2'    I wish I had the room for a REAL table like Imagineer's.  Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene
Reply:Being the cheapskate that I am, I built my table from leftover stuff I had laying around or that my friends had gathering dust. The only purchased parts were the locking casters that I bought surplus for $5 each. The top is   4' x4' x 5/8" steel that a friend had on the floor in a shed he was tearing down. It still had the chalked weight on it, 406 lbs, he said he got it from a shipyard 25 years ago. The legs are 3" pipe I've had for years and the shelf is some old wire racking I had in the garage. I mounted the top to the leg frame with 1/4" rubber pads in between. I tapped the table top for 1/2" bolts and bolted it fto the frame from below. This mounting method prevented the top from warping and it really deadens the ringing if you hammer on it. The thing weighs over 500 lbs and doesn't move at all when the casters are locked. I used a woodworking vise from my dad's old shop because it opens to 10" and doesn't obstruct the top surface at all. I added aluminum faces to not mark parts and to allow conductivity for welding.Cut an MGB and widened 11" C4 Corvette suspension and LT1 Chevrolet power & 6 spd. Reply:I posted the wrong picture above that didn't have the shelves in place yet. Also, another advantage of the woodworking vise is that you can put up the tang and hold long objects (up to about 4 1/2') between blocks bolted to the table top. It's hard to see in the picture but I have holed drilled and tapped every foot in line with the center of the vise across the top.JimCut an MGB and widened 11" C4 Corvette suspension and LT1 Chevrolet power & 6 spd. Reply:More ideas please!  These are all great tables, but are also the same/only ones we have pictures of on the board!ThermalArc 185MillerMatic 180 w/ AutosetVictor Cutskill Oxy/AcetyleneThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38and spite!
Reply:Here is my simple welding table. It is made from 1" angle and I have a 1/8" steel plate I bolt on the top when needed. I used the angle because I plasma and torch cut on it and didn't want to cut the plate top. The base has  adjustable heigth and width. The angle top unbolts so I can bolt on some 2x6 wood for setting car bodies on when doing auto restoration. It doesn't look like it would hold much but I have had 2-3k lbs on it with no trouble. The main thing I like about this table is it comes apart and hangs on the walls when I need the floor space. It's a different idea then the others for you to look at and for me it's more versatile. Reply:heres my first welding project from a year or so ago. its a 2'x4' 1/4" top. 1.25" square 1/8" wall for the frame. some 1/8" plate here and there. and a lil expanded for good measure.it has a lil "cubby" for my hood, gloves, cap, and random junk. i used a small section of the 1.25 sqaure to make the "holster", just rounded the edges with my dremel so it doesnt catch. add some ebay casters and ya got a decent lil light duty bench/cart thing. im still planning on a shelf or 2. and it was designed and built with a procut25 in mind (thats the gap next to the lil lincoln (i decided on 110v for this bench to make it useable wherever i need it).i also made a place to secure the cylinder, but in my wisdom i decided to make it kinda snug, and sure enough when i exchanged cylinders the new one just wouldnt fit  (of course) so no pic  Attached Images
Reply:Here's one of my tables that I've made. I bought the top plate used from a business that was sutting down...don't know what they did with it but it has a few holes in the top but nothing major. The top is 2'x5' x 1" thick and has been blanchard ground. The base is all 2"x4"x.188" rectangular with 1.75"x.134" round center supports. The wheels are 2"x6" self locking and the table sits just under 30". I do a lot of my production welding at this table and it comes in handy when I'm building rear-ends since it's so flat.http://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
