Welding noob

Hi, im having a little bit of trouble stick welding, im trying to weld together a thin steel exhuast ive made for a 50cc 2 stroke motorbike and i cant get it right , ive tried adjusting the amps but i either blow a hole in the sheet or cant strike an arc  thre dosnt seem to be a good setting Any help is greatly appreciated as ive only welded once(MIG) and i pretty much messed it up Sorry if this is a real noob topic.Cheers

Reply:to be honest im not sure what the rods were, im going to buy some more tomorrow(whats the best for this? about 1.5mm sheet steel), amps i tried from 90 all the way to 45 and it either wouldnt strike or blew a hole in it, im pretty sure its DCThanks
Reply:I would suggest 3/32 or 1/8 if you can't get the smaller stuff 6011 if its AC, 6013 if its DC.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
