Ok I was wondering if anyone here builds metal gate frames for there privacy fences. I have been building fences for quite some time, and I had a customer ask if he could have a metal frame on a double swinging gate, (one you can drive a car through). I was wondering how big of a gap i should leave in between the two gates where they latch together. I dont know how much they will expand and contract so i dont want them rubbing each other where they meet in the middle. The whole distance for both gates is right a 10 feet from post to post. Therefore, the gates wont be two terriblely big, maybe a little under 5 feet each. Please HELP!!. Haha, Thanks, Nick
Reply:Nick, you can probably hold down to a 1/4" and be ok. I usually go with 3/8" on mine just so I have some wriggle room. Attached Images
