The fan in my mig (older Miller migmatic) was making a racket so I pulled it out and replaced it. The local welding shop said they couldn't get one because the machine was too old but a local electiric motor place had one on the shelf - right size, voltage, speed, etc.. However, now that its installed I'm thinking its turning the wrong way (only installs one way). It is sucking through the bottom and blowing out the back. Anyone know if this is correct. I don't have the old motor to check. These motors are available in either CW or CCW.Thanks,
Reply:Mine's a newer miller matic. Fan mounts in the back and blows out the back. Pulls in through the front. Don't know about the rotation tho.

Reply:"I'm curious. Hold old is your Miller?"Hmmm, how old is dirt?! Seriously, I don't know. I bought it used about 10 years ago and it looked old then. There isn't a whole lot of difference between it and a new one appearance-wise though. The main difference is the new ones have a switch instead of taps and the internals are electronic whereas this one is mechanical (relays, capacitors, etc.)Anyhow, the fan is turning the right way as stated by an earlier response and I went back and checked the old motor which the shop hadn't scrapped yet. |
