Hello,I have one of those porta torch oxy/acet. rigs. I am wanting to use a larger size acet. tank (30 cf vs. 7 cf) but the porta torch acetylene regulator fitting is too small to attach to the larger bottle's valve. Is there a way to adapt the acet. regulator fitting to this larger size (proper gas fittings of course), or do I have to buy a whole new full size regulator/hose and torch kit? Thanks,Dean
Reply:The fitting that attaches the regulator to the tank threads in to the regulator. These are replaceable. Look up your regulator manufacturer, you want to get a replacement fitting that is compatible with CGA510. I believe your current fittings are CGA300.

Worst case go online and look for CGA connectors/adaptors. I started to buy on eof those but opted to go ahead for the big set instead. I also screwed up because I got a Q OXY tank which is fine, but I decided to go with a B Acetylene, so after cutting for a while or welding for a a few hours it's back to the welding supply for a exchange on the Acetylene. Go bigger if you can afford it, that is if you're going to use it often.
Reply:awesome, thats what I wanted to know, that I could use my current port a torch regulator and safely use adaptors. Thanks! |
