I have just finished remodeling the garage and put down new racedeck tile. I am wondering what to use on the floor to protect the corner where I do my welding. Has anyone used cement backer board like you put under tile in a bathroom to protect from sparks and slag.Just curious if it would be a good choice.

Reply:What is under the racedeck tile? If it's concrete, just take out the tile. I think the cement backer board has additives to prevent mold, water and other intrusions...but I could be wrong.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Sooner or later you're gonna get dust and grit under that backer board (which isn't smooth anyway) and eat up the tile.
Reply:Yea it's just going to ruin the floor no matter what. I used to have a welding canvas down and they protected that area untill I just got tired of it and didn't care about the floor.Do you fly the American flag? Then Drive a American car! |
