Hello everyone,I`m trying to weld 3/8 billet aluminum.I just can`t get the puddle to start.I`m at 125 amp with 15-20 psi argon. Should i try to preheat. If i keep the tig torch in one spot the torch will get real hot but i can run a small bead. Using 3/32 with point and green tungstun.Tony
Reply:125 amps is not gonna cut it..250 is more like it..Preheat will help..But with 125 amps... no way.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:got any pics of what you are trying to do. Remember the 1amp per .001" rule. What machine are you using.T.J.
Reply:Depending on your type of machine, you're going to have to crank it up in the AMP dept. and perhaps even bevel your 3/8 piece. My EconoTIG just barely does this thickness and it only will do it with a bevel. Post more information on your setup and we'll try to help out.John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com |
