Ok guys...I am on the verge of buying a TIG machine. Just got my first MIG in January and am hooked on this stuff...just wish I had more time to spend doing it. I got a M210 in Jan, and love it. Now want to get a TIG as mentioned. The unit I am looking at is a Miller Syncro 200 Runner....they want 2000 even for it and 151 for a filled tank...and I am sure I can get a little more off than that...know the guy. My question is before I drop 2k on this unit I want to make sure it will do aluminum intake manifolds as I could see having a need for that use. Will the unit do that sorta work? Seems to step up from the 200 which seems to have good reviews by most, the $ goes up drastically which I am not feeling good about spending.....What are you thoughts...want to make sure I get what I want. The sales people I have spoken to said it will do the intakes NO PROBLEM...but want to here it from someone that doesn't have their hand out for $$. Thanks and appreciate as always your input. Reply:I have never welded an intake, but 150 amps will do 1/8 plate nicely. I think you would be fine. You might have to preheat the intake.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:You should be looking at 18 to 1950 for that machine, even with the rollers. If you get it without the casters, its about 150 less. I would make my own roller system and save my money. I just bought a new syncrowave 180 today. Yes, they don't make them anymore but I got a hell of a deal and it will do it all. Also, you should have no trouble doing intake work. Watch your duty cycle and you may need to preheat. You won't regret buying a syncrowave 200.Good luckBill |
