HiI'm a mechanical engineering student and I need to prepare WPS for two cases. I have no experience whatsoever in this kind of assignment. I feel lost with the bunch of information that AWS d and ASME 9. I also need to estimate costs. Any advices are welcome.
Reply:Look up the Procedure Handbook of Arc Welding. It is published by the Lincoln Foundation. It will give you some operating parameters and examples. There are smaple blank forms in the appendices of most welding codes. The procedure book has some information on costing. You will have to find current pricing for consumables from a local welding supplier.
Reply:I run an ASME shop and if you pay me I will do your homework... HA! Check out (www.authorizedinspector.com).

Reply:u can read AWS D1.1 part 4, or ASME BPV code section 9, these 2 books are good reference,if u can't find these , i would like to transfer these to u in a suitable manner
Reply:Well, thanks a lot for your replies. The issue is that I am in Costa Rica, and I can't find the Lincoln handbook except por a 1948 edition that I found in a library. 1948 is too old, don't you think?
