Hello, I recently got some powder coated wire and was wondering if I weld it together will the powder coating melt off? Also, If it does is there any way I could attach to PC wires together without the damaging the coating?Thank you.

Reply:I weld powdercoated aluminum parts at work often. We grind off the powdercoat near the weld area before welding. It still burns and smokes from the heat. If it doesn't get ground off sufficiently, powdercoat in the weld makes for a messy weld too.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:PC will take alot more heat than standard paint. However with anything else. It has to cleaned away from the weld area before welding.Being a powder coater I hate having to weld something that I have just coated.Patriot Performance AutoLincoln Power Mig 255CLincoln AC-225 StickVictor Journeyman O/AQuincy QT-5 Compressor |
