Hey folks,Just getting a handle on the gmaw process, and after some more practice I'd like to tackle a tire rack and new ramps for my trailer. Only problem is, I have no clue about the strength of materials here, and I'd like to keep things as light as possible. For the tire rack, I sort of like the idea of this one: http://www.crisbrady.net/trailer4sale.html (does that look like 3/4 sch 40 to you?). There's also this one made with square tube: http://www.circletrack.com/howto/783...railer_part_2/For ramps, I'd like to go longer than the ones that came with my trailer. What I have currently is made out of 3X2X3/16 angle, and they're about 4' long and a bit short and excessively beefy for my use. The only car I trailer is about 2200lbs. I'm eyeballing "a36" square tube at the moment... what's the smallest/thinnest that you think I could go? Is 1x1x0.12 at 6' or so long going to taco on me?Thanks much!mike |
