I am new to welding , and I am going to put dual exhaust and headders on my suburban. No muffler shop around Dallas Tx. will do it. I have 16 ga steel exhaust pipe and was looking to buy the hobart handler 125 ez flux core mig welder. I thought it might be fine since you just set the material thickness and go also the price is alot lower than other MIGs I've seen. It'll weld 18ga-3/16 mild steel. 30 - 125amp. thanks big mike
Reply:Ummmmmmmmmmmm Fluxcore and the newness of of it all = not good results..You want to make your own headers using fluxcore??I'm sorry but thats nearly impossible with experience let alone the newness..Trust us we know..Better off with gas..But even then that can be a challenge...Sorry to be so blunt.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Welcome to Weldingweb. As Zap stated, it's tough to do the thin stuff with flux. The flux wire tends to burn a little hotter. If you jump up one step to the HH 140, then get the gas setup, you'll be fine.
