I have been welding since I was about 14. I started out on deer feeder accessories and moved up to being the only welder at a small tractor business making tractor implements. I have been working my way through high school and college doing this but I am going to have to quit due to work and college schedule conflicts. Anywayz, I would like to start up a small business to make me a little money through the rest of my college career. Does anyone have any ideas of something I can weld up and make a decent amount of money on?
Reply:How big do you want each project to be?People always like sliding gates, regular gates. Go back to your hunting products. Make Hog Traps, etc.
Reply:Creative art. Mix steels, and coppers, and make things like windchimes, lamps, plaques, picture frames. If you get good at burnishing, cut/gouging, and backfilling with silver/ bronze, you can make some really crazy stuff that doesn't take up space or cost much. And when you get the look right, you will know it, and it will more than sell itself.
Reply:Around here Dog boxes for trucks are real popular. ive got a few buddies that build and sell dog boxes. Of course it depends how popular hunting with dogs is in your location. Other than that you could build and sell hog traps. I am in the same position your in.Finding time to do any welding is hard between college and work. Good luck.RF WELDING AND CUSTOM FABRICATION
Reply:Mechanical sex machines? Just an idea....

Reply:Do you have your own equipment? You could sell your welding services. Drive around look for broken hand rails. Many of them rust. Landscape trailer repairs and modifications (decking and racks, expecially). Drop about 1000+ card around town advertising welding repairs. Then you can pick what you want to do. Many times people don't know who to call for welding repairs. |
