would 3/4"square tubing work for a roof rack on my 4runner? nothing fancy, just for sleeping bags and ice chest.
Reply:Yes, 16 gauge steel would be fine if you can weld it. Otherwise 11 gauge might be easier to weld.

Reply:3/4" is aesthetically a little small but, will work. Normally 1" x .120" square or round tube is used on roof racks. I have built many roof racks and anything less bends too easy when loaded.
